Natural Printmaking with Emily Brascoupé-Hoefler, Algonquin artist

Pre-registered Students/Teachers from Across Canada are invited to this pre-recorded art workshop and live Q&A with Emily Hoefler-Brascoupé. Collect flat natural objects, like leaves, flowers, flat pebbles, feathers and other items found in nature, to create prints from these natural materials.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Emily Brascoupé-Hoefler studied visual art and photography at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 2003. She works as a multimedia artist; painting, and working with birchbark baskets, beading, logo design, etc. She also works as a workshop facilitator. Her recent commission with the National Art Centre depicts two drums representing the heartbeat of Mother Earth. The process involves knowledge transmission of drum knowledge by speaking with Algonquin and Indigenous Elders about drum meaning and teachings. Emily’s art is also on local display at Pimisi Station and in the Kitigan Zibi Cultural Centre and in documentaryTuscarora Corn.
